You might want to try this: Go to your browser settings in the top right hand corner. Click on Advanced settings and at "Enable plug-ins" select the "always on" option. Hope this helps!

Go on to Google Play and download the MX Player app. Open an MKV file with the player, it will prompt for a codec download, do that and it'll work beautifully.
